Deception Pass on Fidalgo Island

Deception PassDeception Pass located at the southern tip of Fidalgo Island, near Anacortes, WA should be considered as a top candidate for the 8th wonder of the world. The Deception Pass Bridge was originally constructed in 1934 -1935. The bridge stands nearly 180 ft above the swirling waters of the Pacific Ocean. Connecting Whidbey Island to Fidalgo Island, the Deception Pass Bridge anchored around Pass Island.

Deception Pass BridgePass Island is a small steep rock island between Whidbey Island and Fidalgo Island. There is a vehicle turnout on the east side of the road where photographers and sight seers can get out and take in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Deception Pass is a popular tourist attraction in Washington State. The beauty of Deception Pass makes it an ideal place for photography. I took these photos last week on a sunny autumn day. The steep rock walls and deep green water create a dramatic setting for stunning photos.

Sea KayakingDeception Pass is also a popular place for sea kayaking. Due to the strong currents, it is not recommended for unsupervised novices. However, accompanied with a well educated kayak guide a novice kayaker could make memories to last a life time.
