| WINTER There really is no place like Truckee California. A place of great character and rich western history, it was formerly an old logging town, a source of ice prior to refrigeration, and an important and notorious part of the transcontinental railroad (did we forget to mention the Donner Party?). This was all before the tourism, sports and leisure industries discovered the many faces of Truckee, Donner Pass and the surrounding area.
