As most of you that have read my blog I have two post that mention the wildlife that my wife and I enjoy here in Wintergreen, Virginia.  We live at about 2800 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  In two earlier post I presented Mama bear and later her twins.  Finally I captured Papa bear.  Not a great photo, but he was not very cooperative.  He was also a little aggressive which made me very cautious.  I hope you enjoy.

Maybe one day I will catch him in the daylight.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are such a spectactular sight and experience.  I was lucky enough to have been able to drive a large section of the blue ridge parkway a few years back.  Although I didn't see any bears the scenery was worth a 1000 words.

Yikes! I'm not sure I'd want to live there!  I'm a semi-city girl myself  Spinning 3D Jack-o-Lantern

Great idea trying to sell homes in an area with bears, my husband would have a heart attack!

I'll never forget the day--October 22, 1989--my husband & I were driving on the Blueridge Parkway near Wintergreen when an adorable, and plump, little black bear ran across a field toward the road in front of our truck. Of course we stopped to watch him while he safely crossed and climbed a tree on the other side of the road. Precious! As many times as we've been on that section of the Parkway, we've never seen another bear there. .  . but we keep hoping! Thanks for posting the pics.

My goodness! He almost appears like a possum with the light on his eyes and the way it strikes his face that way - that is a very close shot Dave! I lived near the woods several years back and loved the wildlife experience. We didn't get bears so close, but saw them often in the nearby vineyards and came across their droppings on walks, so they were definitely there!

Deborah you need to go back through my posts and take a look at the photo I have of Mama Bear & the twins.  Let me know what you think.

I am very careful when I do this.  I know better than to come between mama and babies, and not to surprise them when I see them...  Most of the time they are quite timid and run as soon as they see you.  With the exception of the male bears when they are looking for food.

The bears only make Virginia more fun, Mary! And they aren't any more dangerous than city drivers. ;)

As everyone else has said, be careful, Dave. No bear drama until class is over. My real estate future depends on you!
