Solvang is located North of Santa Barbara a few miles inland from Highway 101.

Solvang

This Danish Village is a place you could spend all day, or many days exploring.

Solvang

Sometimes you have to remember that you are still in California!  And did I say FREE parking everywhere?

Solvang

It seems that wherever you look, you just want to take your camera out and take a picture!  Looks like my loner camera is doing pretty good!

Little Mermaid

There is even a replica statue of the Little Mermaid...  But this story didn't end like the Disney version...  In Hans's story, she turned into sea foam.

You know you want to go...

Chris, I love the photos!  Darcy's Grandfather used to work at Nordic Knives and I can't remember what the name of the shop that her Grandmother worked at, it was a sewing shop.  Great memories!

Yeah, it seems very "Un-Disneyesque" to not have their princesses to not have a happily ever after, but I do like the Hans Christen Anderson version.. That looks like such a neat city!!! Thank you for posting all these pics.. I love looking at them. :)

Chris - Looks like a very cool place to visit. Would love to visit one day. I am of Scandinavian heritage {Bob here } and can appreciate this village. I have been to Denmark personally and see the real Mermaid in the harbor... A good likeness I must admit..
