This is an exciting marathon passing through some of the finest old growth Redwoods in Northern California!

Caltrans (California Department of Transpiration), Humboldt Redwoods State Park, and the County of Humboldt have issued a permit for the partial closing of the Avenue of the Giants and Bull Creek Road for the Humboldt Redwoods Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K.
The specific road closures and times on October 16th 2011 are:
AVENUE OF THE GIANTS: Both lanes of the Avenue of the Giants are closed from the Dyerville Bridge area to the Hammond Grove area of the Humboldt Redwoods State Park from 8:30 a.m. to 2: p.m.
BULL CREEK ROAD: Both lanes of Bull Creek Road from the Dyerville Bridge (immediately north of the Founders Grove on the Avenue of the Giants) to a point 6.5 miles west will have controlled traffic between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Motorists on Bull Creek Road should be prepared for delays of 30 minutes.
The closures are for automobiles, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, skates, and strollers.
Only runners and walkers and emergency vehicles will be allowed on the roads during the closure of the Avenue of the Giants. Automobiles traveling on Bull Creek Road will be controlled by pilot cars.
Motorists are advised to drive slowly, safely, and to watch for runners!
