protea

The proteas aka sugarbushes in this picture are a a native of South Africa.  Lucky for us they are also grown in Carpinteria. Since the 1970's Carpinteria has been known for its flower growing business that is shipped to retail outlets to Canada and nationwide, as well to the builders of the floats for the Tournament of Roses parade on New Years Day.

Happy Sunday, Cheers Ron & Alexandra

Ron & Alexandra - I LOVE Proteas!  I wish they would grow here.... We considered them for our wedding, but they are "cost prohibitive", to say the least!

Dear Alexandra and Ron -

I love these flowers! Have one in a dried arrangement so I can always see it!

Have a happy day -

Sharon,

Thank you, according to Wikipedia, they do well in dry hot climates.  I would think that someone may be able to grow them in Arizona if they wanted to.  They are a gorgeous site, and I would have purchased some, but alas, I spent my money on shrimp and other things.  Next week I will. A

Lynn,

Me too, they are unusal and almost belong on the set of Strar Trek.  We love them.  Lynn, thank you for noticing that comment, I am a firm believer that sometimes people cannot hear or want to hear the truth.  A
