I came across a topic today that kind of took me by surprise, although I am not sure why. After all there are rate your doctor sites, rate your teacher sites so why shouldn't there be a rate your agent site? So I decided to look a bit further into the topic and two questions came to mind immediately - don't we always want to strive for the best rating we can get and should we even be thinking about our rating?
Well, to answer the second part first - we should be thinking about providing the best service to our client that we possibly can, not necessarily thinking about our rating. But we do need to be aware that there is a possibility that our client will go online and rate us - and if human nature comes through, we will more likely be rated on our poor performance more than on our superior performance. During my research today I read some of the reviews of local agents and one review was pretty harsh. The agent was accused of lying and of justifying the lie. In another review the individual wished they had lodged a formal complaint with the governing body.
Now of course I don't have the details of the deals but we always want to be sure that we don't even give our clients the hint that we are not giving them the best possible service. We all know that we can't please everybody all the time but if we keep in mind the golden rule - treat others as we want to be treated - then it is more likely that our reviews will lean more towards the positive side of the scale.
At no time do I want to see a poor rating against my name. So cognizance is the word of the day - in every meeting, and during every conversation with clients. And you know, I just may ask my clients to rate me publicly, not just to provide a testimonial. People put some credence in what they read on these rating sites and if I have good ratings it can only strengthen me to continue providing good service. And hopefully good service translates into good ratings.
