MORRIS EICKENHORST ~ A LOVING TRIBUTE TO A COMMUNITY LEADER!

Morris Eickenhorst

Montgomery County lost a very special person this past weekend.  The beloved Morris Eickenhorst passed away Sunday, October 16 in his home surrounded by family and friends.  Morris battled cancer valiantly for the past 19 months.  Morris made a huge imprint upon our community.  He was well loved by all who had the good fortune to have met him.

Morris was born in Navasota, Texas and graduated from Navasota High School in 1969.  He met his lovely wife Linda and they were married in 1973.  Morris and Linda moved to Conroe where they became deeply involved in the community that he so dearly loved.

No matter where you were, Morris seemed to be a part of it.  I worked with Morris on a Committee for the Montgomery County Fair.  This is where I learned in a personal way how dear this man was.  He never tired of giving back and loved being with people.

Morris was involved not only with the Fair but also the Chamber, Montgomery County 4-H Shotgun Team, Chairman of the City of Conroe Planning Commission, President of the Conroe Noon Lions Club are among some of his top activities.  Morris was honored by most of these organizations for his tireless dedication and work.

Morris enjoyed a successful career in the lumber business and most recently he realized a longtime dream, opening Eickenhorst Funeral Services, a local funeral home dedicated to providing affordable funeral services to the community.  Morris was first and foremost a caring community member who constantly put others needs ahead of his own.

As a father, husband and grandfather, Morris  dearly enjoyed spending time with them all. He truly never met a stranger and lived a life of honesty and integrity.  Morris impacted many lives and loved to make people laugh. He lived with strong faith and unwavering Christian character, serving God first always. All who knew him, loved him, and he will be missed.

We will miss you Morris.  You were the voice of the County Fair and you will always be so special to all of those whose lives you impacted.  I am one of those fortunate people who was blessed to have know this giant of a man.  May you rest peacefully in God's arms my friend.

Daniel.  We were fortunate to have crossed paths with this wonderful man.  And Gordon, thank you.  The post was easy to write as he touched my life big time.  I will forever remember his happy smile and wonderful way that he had with all that he encountered.  Knowing he was a man of God brings great comfort as we know he is at peace and in no more pain.

What a great tribute to your friend. As more and more die around us it brings home the fact that we have to make every day count and build up our treasures in Heaven!

So true Mike.  I was so honored to know this man.  Really gives you thought for how we all live our lives each and everyday.  He was so loved and made a huge impact on so many, many people.  He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.  Loved him dearly.
