It is almost "season" here in the desert-- and many people with pools will have little visitors this holiday season and throughout the winter!  Don't forget to take extra safety precautions for your pool area-- you may save a life!

Children can die in pools
even in the fall, winter, and spring

The San Diego Union-Tribune on October 14 reported the death of a 16-month-old boy drowning in the backyard swimming pool. He was still alive when Sheriff's deputies pulled him from the pool, but he died at the hospital.

It takes only seconds for the small lungs of a young children to fill up with water, making supervision of those little ones a necessity. Knowing that it's virtually impossible to supervise children evert second of every hour of every day, there are things that pool owners can do to help prevent drowning injuries and deaths:

  • pool fencing
  • self-closing and self-locking gates
  • automatic sliding door closers
  • pool alarms notifying when doors have been opened, or ar open
  • automatic safety covers

Contact your local pool supply store or pool builder for all the latest in pool safety and drowning prevention.
