Caught In The Act!

Tonight @ a showing in Ellicott City, MD

This little guy was only briefly scared away from his prized possession as we entered the house. When we were ready to leave he was going about his business again and not even our presence on the other side of the storm door and flashes from the camera phone could stop him. We watched him defend and then almost disappear completely in the pumpkin.

And let me tell you ... that pumpkin was cleared out! He was working on the last 10 seeds or so!

Maryland pumpkins are a hot commodity!
A little bit of fall decoration is a nice touch but ... may not last very long!

[Note to self: take your big-girl camera to every showing! Blackberry pictures are just not the same and there are amazing photo ops everywhere!]

Thats so funny. It's always a given that if you forget the good camera you will need it. Not bad for a phone shot. Hope your showing went well.

Hi John: Thank you. This was the 3rd time within a couple weeks that I really wished I had brought my camera! You never know what photo ops may present themselves - perfect example!

Hi Eric: I swear it is fall in Maryland ;-) I'm going to go on a mission to find some great fall foliage this weekend. That grass really was that green - a great lot but a too small house.

Hi Pam: Thanks! I don't know how long he's been working at it but he had it almost finished off. The amazing thing is that the pumpkin looked perfect from every other angle!

Hi Bridget: Thank you - just wish I had brought my camera! We loved the squirrel - very cute and entertaining, the house, unfortunately, was too small.

Hi Terri: We thought so, too - he entertained us for quite awhile!

Hi Richard: Thanks! He was determined to finish it and wasn't even bothered by us!

Hi Fred: He sure did! The envy of the neighborhood squirrel community - you should have seen the other ones approaching but they didn't stand a chance!

We constantly have squirrels invading out yard and eating from the bird feeder. They are very bold and have grown used to our proximity. I think some of the neighbors hand feed them because the squirrels will approach us as if they expect a hand-out.

Well that's a first!  To him, that pumpkin is just another seed source!  We're used to them doing everything they can to raid our birdseed, but would have never expected them to raid a pumpkin!  He may turn into the scourge of the neighborhood for the next few weeks!

Hi Ed, it sure was fun to watch!

Hi John: I do, too, and I'm not happy when they dig up my bulbs! But, this was just too cute.

Hi Liz & Bill: He had the pumpkin almost completely finished off! There was almost nothing left inside - I couln't have done a more thorough job.

Hi Lisa: It sure seemed like it - the other squirrels didn't stand a chance!

Hi Dedra: This was way cute - and I prefer him cleaning out a pumpkin perfectly than digging up bulbs!
