Here I sit, warm and cozy, while outside, the rain promised for today thrums down. I can hear it gurgling in the downspouts, and bouncing off the window sill. Cars are driving by, their headlights shining through the sheets of rain, making it look like fog. Their tires hiss and then they're gone, and all is dark again.

These early mornings have brought a very welcome return of my normal meditative take on life. The drive to the office in the dark, the awareness of the temperature on my skin as I get out of the car, the way the sky gets a smoky, smudgy look before the sun comes up fully. I love the quietude, the time to myself.

I wish you all a happy Wednesday. In the Rain and in the rain.

Good morning Judy,

I too like the early morning..perfect chance to collect my thoughts and begin the day. I can almost hear the rain (not that I'd remember how it sounds here in Austin :).

Hi Judy - I too love my quiet time in the morning. But I prefer to sit in the dark with my coffee and just my thoughts in the comfort of my own home! The rain is especially good for those kinds of mornings. Have a great day.

Judy. Good morning to you. We are getting a deluge tonight so I will get to hear those rain sounds soon. Hope you have a terrific day.

Hi Judy, I love the early morning and somewhat glad my husband enjoys sleeping in when he can!  It's soooo nice. :)

Judy - What a wonderful description.  I feel like I'm right there in the car with you.  I agree with Fernando - we want more!

Hi David - It seems to have calmed down considerably since that early morning downpour.

I love the rain it washes all the dirt away and makes everything so refreshing. I can't wait until we start having more of it here.

Hi Judy --- I'm not a big fan of rain while driving but rain in the middle of night -- very nice and as Pamela states above --- it certainly cleans our air quality and makes everything seem a bit more fresh.  Stay out of the puddles.

Hi Dorie - Early morning is a good time for reflecting, isn't it? Re the lack of rain where you are, I sometimes wish I could redistribute the water more evenly. We've had much more than our fair share here lately.

Hi Peggy - Having that first cup of coffee along with quiet morning thoughts is a real treat when it's in the comfort of your own home! Enjoy.

Hi valerie - It DOES seem to deluge a bit too much here on the East Coast, doesn't it? I hope the sounds were pleasing to your ear.

Hi Gail - I know what you mean! Herb wakes up talking, and I need a little quiet transition time to being awake. I like it when he sleeps in a bit, so I can be ready to engage with him when he does get up.

Hi Pamela - There really is nothing like that scent after the rain, is there? I hope for rain where you are very soon!

Hi Michael - Since so many CT drivers feel the need to go very fast and tailgate very close, driving in the rain can be a bit nerve-wracking here. My preference for enjoying rain is sitting on a porch with a cup of coffee. I can see and hear the rain and not get wet. Delicious!

Judy - In Southern California we have mostly sunny days so a rainy day or two is a nice change to our usual weather pattern.  I love putting on my yellow slicker and going for walk by the ocean in the rain.

Hi Norma - That makes a lovely picture - you in your yellow slicker against the gray ocean and sky. I love the beach in that sort of weather, too.
