55,500 Members here we are!!

When 55,000 member come together for the good of the Real Estate Community I think it is a good thing.  Will there become a time when we hit 100,000? I don't even know how to project that kind of growth.  Is it going to platue the number of new members or will the growth continue?  What does everybody think?

As more and more people hear of the benefits of joining AR , the membership will grow.

Honestly?  As soon as the real estate market rebounds, AR will deflate like a popped balloon.  Right now you have a lot of realtors with dwindling business (or no business) that 1) have a lot of time on their hands and 2) are searching for the magic bullet that will prop up their business.

Once realtors get busy, they typically let everything fall by the wayside.... their marketing efforts, their websites, everything. And they hope the good luck will continue without their constant input and tweaking of their marketing, because they don't have time or don't want to make the time (because they don't need to).

It's interesting, because those realtors who have been working on their websites and their marketing consistently for the past ten years are doing quite well right now.  They were doing their marketing even when they were busy and even when they technically didn't need to.... and now that things have slowed down, they're seeing the results of that hard work.

Everyone else is now playing catch up - I find that a LOT of realtors have just 'discovered' the internet in the past year and a half! I absolutely believe that's why Active Rain is so popular - people have lots of time are trying everything they can at this point to try generate business and prop up their 4 year old websites that they've basically ignored until now.

You have to market continuously - when business is good AND when it's bad.  Consistency is the key - not just working when you need to plug the hole in the dyke!

Michael- Welcome to AR!!

Georgina-Maybe we can sell it like Facebook?

Gita-Blogging is fun too!

Fred-I agree and disagree.  It is helping the agents who already have a good website even more.  Other realtors are playing catch up.  It is the 80/20 rule.  Once the market picks up 80% of people will stop blogging.

Ethan

I think it is bound to level off at some point. A lot of agents are leaving the business right now and I think that will have some effect on new membership as well.
