Good information for buyers. Pre approval for the loan means very little. The buyer should have at a minimum the pre qualification from the lender.
Thanks, Jim. I think pre-approval letters used to mean something, but these last couple of years they've become rather meaningless.
Chuck, sometimes buyers are lucky when they go through an internet lender but in my experience most of the time the extra frustration, hassle, delays and sometimes cost, cancel out any perceived benefits and that is if the transaction ever closes!
A local mortgage broker or lender will be the buyer's best bet for a smooth transaction. If nothing else, there is a lot of value in being able to actually go to a real person's real office to talk to them about the transaction.
Silvia, I wholeheartedly agree. Out of area lenders, and dot com lenders spell trouble for most transactions. Thanks for writing!
