Earthquakes and Real Estate Transactions

What happens if you're buying a home and an earthquake strikes?

Last night, we experienced a "moderate" quake in the San Jose/Silicon Valley area of California. This was nowhere as big as either the Northridge Quake of southern California or our local Loma Prieta Earthquake of 1989.

At Live in Los Gatos, I recount my experience of this quake, how the Loma Prieta impacted the purchase of my first home in Cambrian Park (an area of San Jose), and what often happens if an earthquake hits and you're in escrow.

Please stop by, and share your stories!

Mary, I was caught in the Northridge Quake while staying at the Beverly Hilton.  I didn't know what it was, we were sleeping but it sounded like an explosion and then a wild flash outside (transformers blew).  I thought I was caught in a scene from Die Hard :)
