House Hunting Sights you don't see everyday - But I did

Still working on the catchy title for a series of once a month or so posts with pictures celebrating the good, bad and unique aspects of homes I see when I am working with Buyers.

More and more often I tend to have my camera with me when I’m working with buyers and I’ll try to capture interesting parts of our visits, even if it’s just an idea for finishing my attic. Every house has something good in it, even if it’s clearly not the right floor plan once you’re inside. Maybe the way this house positioned the kitchen appliances suddenly makes the last house a contender, and so on.

Anyway, these posts are here more to celebrate the unusual than the normal and are probably best viewed without too much accompaniment.

The closet to the left of the fireplace and mantel is very unusual. One would expect, in this house, another window or maybe a built-in bookcase.

This drop down ironing board cabinet was in the kitchen of the home, next to the basement steps doorway.

This is a very old dishwasher.

With a new tile counter top, apparently.  Why cosmetically rehab the kitchen for re-sale if you’re going to leave the 20 year old appliances?

Yes, this is a laundry return. Anyone who has ever used me as their Buyer’s Agent knows how crazy I am about Laundry Shoots. Love them, preferably one on each floor. Many of Columbus’ older neighborhoods have them.

While the stove above is old, you’ve probably seen a couple of those before.

This beauty is unique and a much rarer find. The electric burners pull out into the kitchen and the oven is on top. These are classics from the 50s and you find them in homes built in the era that’ve never had a bit of updating.

This one is more difficult to explain but what you see here is the transom window above a front entry door. The outside of the house was vinyl sided in recent years and instead of custom finishing it around the transom, they just sided right over it.
