What Goes Up, Must Come Down

Late yesterday morning while taking a walk through Crestbrook Park in Watertown CT, we spotted a hot air balloon just floating along in the currents. This is not an uncommon site at this time of year as the foliage is at peak, and people just want to see it from a different angle.

What was different, however, was that this balloon seemed to be having a tough time staying up. Sure enough, they started to lose altitude, and were fortunate to have a large filed adjacent to the golf course for them to come down safely.

We stayed just long enough to see the passengers secure the balloon, and they called for assistance.

What goes up, must come down, except, it doesn't always happen as planned.

Hi Ed, What a great photo op for you!  Yes this time of year is a great time to view vistas from up high and those balloons do have to come down.  Lucky you were able to help these people out.  See you get yourself in one photo too!

Have you ever been in a hot air balloon?

So were you prepared with your camera, or was that your phone that you took your pictures with? The shadow looks like a phone!

Talk about being in the right place at the right time... and having your camera ready to capture it all. Well done Ed.

Ed I am sure that was more than just a little distraction for those still on the course playing :)

Ed, That's a cool group of shots!  I love the big balloons! We don't get to see them all that often anymore.

Doug & Gloria. We do see them often in that area as there are so many hills that are highly wooded. And yes I have been up. A couple of years back we arranged to have the REMAX balloon make an appearance in our area to a school. The kids got tethered rides, and at the end we got a little more than that.

Ellie, I had my camera and my phone but one of my playing partners got better photos than I did, he was quicker on the lens

Craig, it happens quite often, one of the balloon pilots isn't that sure or else someone lies about their weight.

George, I'm sure it was.

Tony,. there are a couple of towns in the area that actually have a balloon festival every year. I haven't made it there as yet, but it could be something to do next year.

Carole or Lura, I don't know the reference, my bad.

Great shots Ed;  how did you like the ride and how high did you go up?  Did you take any photos while airborne?
