I need a running plan!

I use to be a pretty active runner back in the day, ok well it's been about a year and half.  See, I graduated from college, started a job and well, kind of got busy.  I know it's not a very good excuse.  But now that I'm in real estate, I have a little more, how should I say this, "free time," or at least less of an excuse now.

I really want to get back into running, I know I picked a perfect time to start too!  See, I use to love running outside.  My biggest worry is that I will over do it and hurt my knee again. O, yeah I have this one knee that cracks a lot when I go up and down stairs, another excuse I know.

Any ideas or fitness plans for those trying to get back into running again?

I literally starting running two minutes at a time,  lol. Now I'm up to at least half an hour on both my slow and fast days. I have a "bum" knee as well...I make sure I stretch well before and after. I know there are some debates about prior slowing power performance, but I don't want to worsen anything. Let me know how you make out!

For me it has helped to schedule a time in my day planner for a work out.  I know, sounds dorky, but it works for me.  I will often go for a run around lunch time, so I'll block out 11-1 or something like that so I have time for the workout and a bite to eat afterwards.  Writing it down also seems to be an extra motivator, (or added guilt if I skip a day or two).

Start slow. Stretching is a must, and a little strength training mixed in might help with the bum knee.

Starting is the hardest part.  Good Luck!
