Potential GO Bus strike starting Monday, October 24, 2011

There may be a strike starting on Monday, October 24, 2011 that would affect GO bus passengers across the Greater Toronto Area.

At the time of this post (shortly after 8 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2011), no settlement had yet been reached between the GO workers' transit union and Metrolinx which is the Ontario provincial agency that operates GO Transit.

GO Transit has advised the media that if there is a strike then GO buses will be affected.  However, GO trains are still scheduled to operate on the normal train schedule.  There will NOT be additional train service.

If there is a GO bus strike, it is expected that traffic on the roads and highways will be heavier than normal as more people drive to their destination.

Passengers who also use York Region Transit and/or VIVA express buses will be affected by separate strikes that affect those services.
