Well that title is about three different posts that inspired me this morning. We planned a weekend getaway and at the last minute, David got some work that had to be done. So, we canceled our plans and I was mopey about it but decided to make lemonade out of lemons and get a course out of the way. I got up early to blog and comment as usual and noticed that I was having extra time....because David was sleeping in.

He finally got up around 9:00 which is very late for him and said...."Guess what?" "I finished my work, let' go to the Coast"! Well, what a wonderful surprise. We packed up and were on the road within the hour. We had so much fun. I can't encourage you enough to take a break and do something wonderful for yourself. We had a completely magical weekend with everything just laying out beautifully. Ginger was happy and had a number of walks and a run on the beach. We took a ton of photos and I'm headed to Walmart today to buy myself another ScanDisk. I'm now working in RAW format and the photos are huge. I ran out of room on the chip and had to keep editing which to keep and which to loose so I could take more photos.

We had sunshine on Saturday for a perfect run down the Coast and views of the Pacific. We made it all the way to the Redwoods before returning to Eureka for the night. Our accommodations were modest, clean and very nice. We were tucked away in a quiet corner. The bed was wonderful and had cotton sheets with great pillows. I loved it. I always bring my own pillow but in the future I won't have to. It had a fridge and a microwave and every little convenience. We got breakfast for free and could not have loved it more. David and GiGi walked to Old Town and the Marina and the "Scary" house. Too fun! I watched cooking shows until bedtime.

We woke to heavy fog and found wonderful photo ops both in town and out on Samoa Island. We had to laugh because it was all so mysterious. We kept finding these cool places and they were so eerie. I kept saying to David....what is this place and what was it? We found so many amazing things and we were locked in fog. Finally the Sun began to burn off the fog and then the Security detail found us and kicked us off. We had been on one of the old logging sites and it was sooooo amazing. It was massive in size and not being used anymore (thank goodness). It is so amazing to see the "things of Man" no longer used and abandoned. This huge infrastructure for the logging industry and now abandoned. What great photo ops we had.

They could not see us because of the fog and so we had the ability to just wander through this massive place and we got so many cool shots.....until the fog lifted.....LOL! No wonder I kept saying what is this place and how can we be here.....LOL! We both were completely spellbound.

We could not have been given anything sweeter to enjoy our weekend.

We have to just bust out now and again and explode with fun and adventure. It is so good for the heart and the soul. Magic......comes to you when you are laughing and in a state of joy! Here are some photos to touch on this post.

Jeanean - Those are really cool photos.  Your editing and framing kicks them up a notch or two beyond the raw material.  Each one is unique in it's special way.  I especially like the one with the old mansion!

CONGRATULATIONS on having this blog FEATURED in the Photos group!

Good morning all. Thank you for coming in to celebrate with me. I was giving myself a lecture all day yesterday that I can't just keep playing around with these photos all the time. I spent a good deal of time working on them for the post yesterday. Now, I am slammed with real estate. I soon as I posted this, the phone started to ring and now there is more to do than I can see how to do. At least I got this post done and shared how much fun we had. Thanks for sharing with me....It is fun!

Hello John, thanks for stopping by. You must be the record person for being first to comment. We had a grand time and enjoyed ourselves. It's a bit hard to get back in the grind but we have an offer to write today and a new listing to take. We are working through the weekend at the Home Show for HUD and so we are back at it. The break sure made a difference though and we now have our spot to stay so we can go again soon. Have a beautiful week and thanks for stopping by.

Hello Joni, thanks for stopping by to visit and have a look. I love color and so I think those are my favs also. I'm not a gray or B&W person and even though I can appreciate an artistic aspect.....I always go for color. Hope you have a great week.

Peter and Linda, thanks for going along on our trip. I tried to put a photo for each component of the trip. We will go many more times. We have missed the Sea being inland for the first time in many years. I loved that there will be years of time spent over there with endless photo ops. We have a haunt. Thanks for the visit and look see! Have a great week!

Hello Charlie, thanks for coming over for a visit. I always enjoy it when you do. We had a great time and the fog was amazing. It gave everything such a strange quality. The photos are all coming out gray and I love to satuarate but they are still cool. LOL! Being at the Coast after such a long time we enjoyed the many aspects of wildlife and lifestyle. Hope you are well. I will visit soon! Have a great week!

Amy, thanks for stopping by and sharing our trip with us. We had so much fun. It was truly magical for us. When we went to India, the same thing happened. We were there for 6 weeks and it was so magical. It is such a special occasion when time is not in the equation and you are free to allow Nature to take care of the details. Have a beautiful day. I so enjoyed your post yesterday. I will come back for magical inspiration.

Andrea, thanks for stopping by. No, it is a private club and not open to the public. It is a landmark and a tourist attraction, however. I have some more photos that I am going to feature around the house. It was very ominous looking although I don't know that it is. There was an emblem on the front. Not sure what it was. Masons maybe. Thought to research and do a post for more details. I will stop over and let you know when I post it. Hope you are having a great week.

Hello William, yes I came home to a full chip and it took about 30 minutes to download all the photos. I have the Extreme III card that is faster and has more protection. David and I talked about whether we would spend the extra money and decided to do it. It is tempting to buy the lower priced cards. Your comment was perfectly timed so that we got a confirmation on the decision. Thanks for taking the time to give me good advice. I am still loving your Halloween photo of the "Tall Ship". We saw the "Tall Ships" come into the San Francisco Bay and were out by the Ball park in our 37' Hershine Trawler. What a day that was. I think David had his first DSLR camera. I am wondering if we have any good shots of the day. Blue and a Tall Ship.....sure work for me. Have a beautiful day and thanks for the inspiration that you generate on a constant basis. I do appreciate it....all the work that all these great photographers do....it is changing my life and I am so excited about it!

Kwee, thanks for stopping by, I thought about you several times during the weekend. I got a photo of a "Seagull", some nesting "Sandpipers" and a "Raven". Not as good as you do but I'm trying. I was so focused on the big picture that it was hard to capture the details. We will be going back soon and so hopefully, someday I will get some great shots of the wildlife. We saw Elk on our trip but it was a flash as we went by on the 101. In the National Parks, there are local Elk herds and so eventually, I should be able to "hook it up". Thanks for inspiring me to want to capture the "small things" that are so beautiful. Elk are not small....so the big things also. Have a beautiful day!

Hello Eric, thanks for the stop by and I have to agree that the Victorian was amazing. Beautifully maintained. There is a huge historical component to Humboldt County and it will be fun to feature some of that historical flavor. There are Victorians all through downtown and the Old Town area. They are mostly beautiful with a few looking shabby. We really loved the local flavor and realized how much we have missed our old haunts of Carmel, Monterrey and Santa Cruz. Least I forget our all time fav of Half Moon Bay. Now we have a new place to explore and learn about. We are looking forward to many more excursions. We now have a "getaway"! Have a beautiful week!

Rose, thanks for stopping by. I also love texture and color. I'm not much of a gray or B&W girl. We were given the gift of fog for our Sunday morning excursions and so I am learning to be happy with something new. We had a grand time and now it is hard to go back to work. Taking a break makes you sharper and helps you get back to work with more enthusiasm. I am looking forward to planning another trip some day soon. Have a beautiful day!

Hello Rebecca, I also really like that photo. We were so amazed in the Redwoods. These massive trees truly are beings. You can feel their presence and you are in awe in their presence. We could have spent hours there and only had a few moments. We have to go back soon and spend more time. There is so much to do and one must slow down and commune. We were getting the "lay of the land" so that we can come back and hit the fav places. Love it. Have a beautiful day! Make some magic....like you always do. See you soon!

Hello Myrl, I think the old mansion wins. It seems to be the overall fav. David went by it on his walk with GiGi and had to take me there first thing. I got out of the car and a Raven was sitting on the Sign and I told David is that too good or what. So I got that shot and then I focused on trying to get that huge house in one shot. I found spider webs on the Victorian rought iron fence with dew on them and then the fog just sealed the deal. I am going to put together a post on the place with some history and all the photos. It's really an amazing place and I'm looking forward to working on the photos. Things came together well for this shoot. Thanks for the feature. I am having so much fun and completely love the photo groups. I am inspired on a constant basis. Thank you for your work and for managing a great group.

Hello Kristin, thanks for visiting and sharing our trip with us. We had great fun. It is interesting what people liked in the photos. They represent our trip and the diversity we experienced. I liked putting up one representative photo for the different aspects of the trip. There was so much more I wanted to do but could not. I knew that the clock was ticking and just as I posted this....the phone rang and continued to ring all day. We basically had a free weekend and the phone only rang twice. Unheard of for us. So we were in that "bell jar" managed by the "Weekend Getaway" Gods and we are so grateful. Have a beautiful day!
