How to NOT get caught - Attention Photography Enthusiasts

FND Real Estate Photography and Virtual ToursIf you love photography as much as you do, I'm sure you have been asked not to take a picture in the mall, department stores or even on the streets :)

My biggest problem is that I love symmetry. A bookcase is more than a simple object for me to take a picture. The shelves and how they are perfectly parallel to each other, simply amazes me. Anything parallel or perpendicular to the other objects around them excites me.

Recently I was in a coffee shop which was a sandwich shop at the same time with a collection of wines on the shelves. The shelves full of wines was more than to urge me to take a picture. So here is the trick you can follow and NOT get caught :)

1- Set your camera on a flat surface (table, chair, or your lap)
2- Set the timer (if you have a remote control, then you are in heaven)
3- Click the button on the remote control or simply push the button on your camera (but make sure that it doesn't beep every second :)

Here is your picture...
And no one knows that you took the picture :)

MET...I haven't been told no yet, but I'm sure it will happen one day.  I'll try to remember your tip when I am someplace where I suspect they would prefer NO PHOTOS.  Although when they post NO PHOTOS (say in a museum or art gallery) I don't do it.

I live on a lake where we have a number of small bridges.  Way to often I see something going on when I'm crossing one and find myself pulling to the side (thank goodness for hazard lights as these are pretty narrow bridges) and either getting out to take a shot or opening my windows to shoot from the driver's seat.  Today the fog lifting off the lake was great so I pulled into a driveway right past a bridge and walked back to take some photos.

Hi Kathleen,

I wouldn't dare taking pictures in a museum or an art gallery where I may actually get kicked out and probably get beaten down on the way  :)

But the excitement of getting a shot that no one tries is pretty cool  :) Especially if there is some sort of symmetry involved  :)   I used to live in seattle and get up early in the morning to take pictures where there is some serious fog.  Those are the priceless shots.  Especially the triangle light that presents itself under the street lights with the fog is AMAZING  :)

Interesting that you had it focus on the chair rather than the bottles.  Made for a beautiful shot!  Kudos.  :)

Crystal,  with the busier background being blurry the picture brings the attention to the chair and still grabs your eye for the background as well  :)

Crystal...I agree with you.  It's funny that some people would take a picture and if it came out like Met's they would just think they had a bad shot and delete it.  Lucky us!

Met...thanks for "teaching" us.

Met - The flash is usually a dead give away too. I like to set the camera on the table at parties and take the sneaky photos too. It is a lot easier to get a good pose of someone when they don't realize that you are taking their photo.

Ryan,

that's the trick... since it is sitting on the table, there is no need for the flash  :)
