Third Quarter Hamilton County Indiana housing statistics don't exactly fall into the category of a visit by the Grim Reaper - and just in time for Halloween, no less - but they don't exactly inspire the light-heartedness of an appearance by Casper the Friendly Ghost, either.
While third quarter statistics may have provided a bright picture for much of the Indianapolis area housing market, they didn't do much for Hamilton County. Closed Sales and Months Supply of Inventory for July through September 2011 were the only Hamilton County housing numbers to show an increase from the same time period one year ago - and an increase in inventory is actually a negative when it comes to the current housing market! However, a 27.7% boost in Closed Sales is a healthy number and, when combined with a 14.2% decrease in new listings, could go a long way to helping clear out excess inventory.
A monthly comparison of the Hamilton County housing market for the month of September shows slightly better news, with a 27.6% increase in Closed Sales over September 2010 and a 3.5% decrease in Months Supply of Inventory as well as a 12.8% decrease in New Listings.
