We are on the countdown to the holiday season and the time is going quickly.   If you have not started thinking about holiday gifts for your clients, associates and friends, it is time to do so.
This is an easy, affordable, impressive and delicious gift you can make with minimal time and effort.  But..........you must get started very soon.

Kahlua (Coffee Liqueur)
1 1/2 cups instant coffee granules

3 cups boiling water

6 cups sugar

1 vanilla bean (or 3 teaspoons pure vanilla)

1 fifth vodka (can be the cheap stuff, doesn't matter)

Dissolve coffee granules in boiling water, add sugar and vanilla bean (or pure vanilla).  Allow to cool.  Add vodka.  Pour into a gallon container, seal with a cap and let stand 30 days to ripen before using.  Yield:  1/2 gallon.  (I usually make 2 or 3 batches)

Pour into decorative bottles.  (these can be found at Dollar Tree, WalMart or you can save wine bottles and corks to use)

Add a personal label.  I like to to put one on the front and back.   On the one on the back I state "delicious in after dinner coffee, over ice cream, or as replacement for coffee in any recipe" --i.e mocha butter cream frosting"

I also make Amaretto and Fruit Cordials (raspberry is my favorite).  If you are interested in any of the recipes for those, let me know and I'll send them to you.

Cynthia, sounds great.  Could you send one up my way?  I think I've got all the ingredients here at home already.

Hello Irina,
My pleasure.  It is sooo good in a cup of coffee after a nice dinner.  Thank you for coming by.

Hi Brian,
Not sure about mailing it but with all the ingredient already there, why not stir  up a batch?  I appreciate your visit.

Neal,
Well you are all set.   People love this gift and it doesn't get much easier.   They think of you every time they use the Kahlua.

Sounds like a winner....when you do the labels do you advertise yourself, or what do you put on them?  does this need a cork, and how long will it last?   I will look for another one of your great tips.....Thanks.

Hi Kathy,
It depends on the occasion and who I am giving them too.  For clients at Christmas I'll do something like this for the front label

Merry Christmas!

As for corking, yes a cork or cap depending on your decorative bottle and it last indefinitely.

Hi Jennifer F.
It is something I have thought about and if I ever decide to leave real estate, that's probably the direction I'd go--the banquet/party planning.  Thanks for coming by.

Hi Faina,
Maybe it is a Southern thing I'm not sure but one thing for sure this Kahlua is good stuff to have around.  Thanks.

Very cool idea Cynthia! I love it.  I like Kahlua too, but what a fantastic idea! Just a thought have you ever tried adding a touch of almond extract or something similar...., hmm..., I think I just had a idea off to the lab!

Hi Christopher,
Congratulations!   Better not serve to wife until after the baby comes.

Hi Ron,
No, I haven't but  Kahlua and chocolate are great together.  Let me know about the almond, I do make Amaretto also and it does have almond extract.
