For commuters who take Route 123 through Vienna, please be aware that they will be closing the streets on October 26, 2011 for the annual Vienna Halloween Parade. Maple Avenue, between East Street and Lawyers Road will be closed from about 6:45 - 9pm. Several side streets will also be closed for provide staging areas for the parade. All roads will be opened at about 9pm after the parade.
Please plan alternate routes or additional time to your commute. Or, you can also make an event of it and come watch the parade!
About the Vienna Halloween Parade
2011 marks the 65 anniversary of the Parade. It was started by the Vienna Businessman's Association to show off costumes of local kids. Now, it's grown to a huge event, with almost 100 entries and over 35,000 participants and spectators! The best part is the kids lead the parade, so when they finish, they can watch the rest of it with a goodie bag full of treats from local businesses and associations.
