Top 10 Winterization Tips
As the cooler weather is starting to move it, even in Frisco Texas we are seeing temperatures in the 50's in the morning now, brrrr. It's time to start to think about winterizing your home NOW.
I've boiled down your autumn to-do list to 10 easy tips:
* Outside Faucets - protect with hose bibs.
* Windows - Check exterior window seals for gaps. Leave bottom open for draining.
* Smoke Alarms - Change batteries. Install in each bedroom, hallway and house level.
* HVAC Maintenance – hire a professional HVAC tech check your heaters for the winter especially if they’re gas.
* Air Filters – change regularly according to the unit.
* Going On Vacation? Shut off water heater and all water supply if leaving for extended period of time.
* Clean those gutters.
* Insulate yourself add insulation to the existing insulation in the attic, you need a minimum of 12 inches of insulation in your attic.
* Wrap those pipes Before freezing nights hit, make certain that the water to your hose bibs is shut off inside your house (via a turnoff valve), and that the lines are drained.
