Texting has been around since the birth of the digital mobile phone and is the standard the world over for sending and receiving quick messages with friends and family.

 

According to mobile text marketing survey, over 740 billion text messages were sent over carrier networks in the US during the first half of 2009. To put that astronomical number into perspective, it boils down to 4.1 billion SMS messages being sent daily! 

 

Who is Texting?

Texting has been around since the birth of the digital mobile phone and is the standard the world over for sending and receiving quick messages with friends and family. The explosion of texting in North America in the past 5 years provides us with a new opportunity to engage with customers on a trusted and familiar technology. Over the past year we have seen explosive growth in number of text messages being sent and received and we see expect to see this grow exponentially as more people become exposed to it.

In the past texting was always seen as a youth medium but we are seeing growth in other markets as children and parents and grandparents start texting each other.

I am alwasy fascinated by all these abbreviations andacronyms, but practically never use them myself.

Very interesting information. I think everyone kinda had an idea this was the case...but it is good to see some numbers that substantiate it. Fact is... we need to incorporate the ability to text or lose customers that prefer communication that way.
