Definitely a good blog about Linkedin, it does seem like the left out step child when it comes to social media. Even though I have over 100 connections on Linkedin I log in once a week maybe. So Thanks for reminding me and others of the importance of Linkedin.

Via RealSupport Real Estate Virtual Assistant (RealSupport Inc.):

In the midst of all my social networking activities, I definitely have a tendency to play favorites. Facebook receives the most attention, with logins per day reaching the double digits. I post just about anything; what song I am listening to on Pandora, funny pictures of my cat, and of course frequent status updates. Twitter almost gets equal attention, with a few posts here and there each day. Blogging comes third, in which I attempt to compose a thoughtful post once or twice a week. But at the end of the week, I have that feeling that something is missing. What could it be?

Then I remember - the neglected but equally important social media platform that will go weeks with no attention: LinkedIn. I used LinkedIn all the time during and right after college, when I was vigorously applying for jobs and obsessing over the perfect “about me” section of my profile and updating my resume every few days. But there is more to LinkedIn than just looking for jobs, connecting with a few people and getting recommendations.

As it turns out, LinkedIn is one of the best places to market yourself as a business professional and network with other business professionals. While Facebook and Twitter will connect you to an array of people, LinkedIn specializes in connecting you with likeminded professionals in your field. As your real estate virtual assistant, I am here to tell you how having an active presence on LinkedIn is smart and even profitable for a professional real estate agent.

To start you off with some motivation, here is a quick fact about the ever growing social network: LinkedIn has become the world’s largest social network for professionals – there are over 100 million members.

I know what you're thinking. "I have to make time for yet another social media outlet?" The answer is yes. Here is why you should make time for LinkedIn:

1. The spirit of LinkedIn is strictly professional. Sure, you can use it to form relationships outside of the working world, but the main focus is to network for business purposes. On Facebook and Twitter, we first become buddies, then we talk business...maybe.

2. The LinkedIn community is filled with business professionals who want to know about your business.

3. Many LinkedIn members are the “decision makers” within their business. If you are connected with the right people, that could lead to some great benefits and profit for you.

4. LinkedIn is used for locating a wide range of candidates beyond traditional job opportunities and titles. If a business owner is looking to relocate to your area, you want to show up first on the list when they search for “top agents.”

These are just a few reasons as to why LinkedIn is worth your time. For more tips and how to use the social networking platform efficiently and effectively, contact your real estate virtual assistant and we will give you all the details. We’ll also set up and maintain your page for maximum exposure.

Have a great day!

I include LinkedIn as part of my daily social media routine, adding new contacts weekly, posting messages, and connecting with people on relevant issues.  They have groups that are good for networking as well.  It's purely business oriented which I think has more value for agents than the fun sites like Facebook.
