My pick of the week is the Thriller dance performance.  This is done on a closed downtown street and it is SCARY!  Scary good that is...  Everybody have a safe and fun Halloween. 

 

Here’s what’s happening around Silverton this week: October 25 – November 1

Silverton Business Group

The group meets every Wednesday morning from 8 to 9 am at Silverton Inn & Suites. October leader is Brenda Londin of ABC Window Cleaners & Building Maintenance. The Oct. 27 speaker is Cheryl Gribskov from Oregon Travel Experience.

Chamber After Hours
October After Hours will be Thursday, October 27 5:30 -7:00 pm at Deb Harroun’s Miche Bag Headquarters, 411 N. Water Street. Deb will have lots of new styles & sizes of Miche bags, so you can do your holiday shopping EARLY! Refreshments and prizes are also in the mix for a fun evening.

Goblin Walk
If you will be open for trick or treating on Halloween Monday, October 31 between 4:00 and 6:00 pm, be sure to get a Goblin Walk poster for your window. The bright orange poster will let parents know that you have treats. Stop by the Chamber office or give us a call, 503-873-5615, & we will get a poster to you.

Guess the Weight of the Great Pumpkin
Stop in the Tap Room, ask your server for an entry form and guess the weight of the pumpkin sitting outside of the Tap Room. The winner will win the opportunity to brew our new pumpkin beer with us. Brewing the beer will be pretty exciting as we will be using the great pumpkin! Contest runs through Friday, October 28th. Winner will be announced Saturday, October 29th at our Halloween Party! 

Halloween Party at The Tap Room
Saturday, October 29, 7-11 pm – Join us for the release of our Black IPA, music with Will West, and a costume contest.

Beer Pairing Dinner 
Tuesday, November 8, 7pm - Five courses of delicious food paired with Seven Brides Brew and Vitis Ridge Wine. Space is limited, so please call to reserve your spot. Cost is $65 per person and includes 5 courses paired with beer or wine and gratuity. 503-874-4677

Family Harvest Days at The Oregon Garden 
From 1-4pm each Saturday in October, families are invited to the Garden for fun, educational harvest-themed games, activities and crafts, along with free treats for kids and a free glass of beer or wine for adults. The activity fee is just $5 (in addition to Garden admission). Also come out for a Golden Pumpkin Hunt all Saturday (find clues on Facebook) and to vote on your favorite locally-designed scarecrows everyday in October! http://harvestinthegarden.blogspot.com/

Small Business Breakfast Club Celebrates Anniversary

You're all invited to the Small Business Breakfast Club Anniversary Event Thursday morning, Oct. 27, from 7:30-9:30 am at Seven Brides Brewing Tap Room in Silverton for our one year celebration! Please join us for a piece of Anniversary cake and to network with other businesses in our area!

The SBBC is a free networking club that meets once a month to strengthen and grow your small business. Halloween Party at Marquis Silver Gardens
Friday, October 28 – Halloween Party for the Community, 6:30 – 8:30 at Marquis Silver Gardens, 115 S. James Street Games, prizes, refreshments, costume contest & face painting. Fun for all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Questions? Please contact Dodie at 503-873-5362, ext 231.

Dr. Kim’s 4th Annual Harvest Festival & Carnival for Kids
Dr. Michael Kim, DDS Family & Spa Dentistry sponsors an annual Harvest Festival from 2-4 pm on Saturday, October 29 at Eugene Field School gymnasium. The event will feature pony rides, carnival games & prizes, face painting, popcorn and cotton candy. The tooth fairy will pass out toothbrushes to children. The event is free.

Dr. Kim also sponsors a Halloween candy buy-back: Your child can have the fun of trick or treating, and sell the candy back to Dr. Kim’s office for $2 per pound on Nov. 2-4 from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, & Nov. 5 from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. They will send the candy, along with toothbrushes, to our troops.

Goblin Walk
Monday, Oct. 31 4-6 pm - Look for the bright orange pumpkin signs in local businesses that will be open for kids to trick or treat.

Thriller Dance 
Monday, Oct. 31 - The American Academy of Performing Arts will present their annual Thriller dance on High Street between Water & First Streets beginning at 6 pm.

November First Friday Event - "Squares and Circles"
November 4, 7 - 9 pm Lunaria Gallery is pleased to present “Squares and Circles,” featuring the art of Rebekah Rigsby and Ann Altman for the month of November. This geometry-themed show opens with a special artists’ reception on Friday, November 4th at 7:00 PM. 
As a kick-off to the holiday season, the show will also feature smaller items, including cards, limited edition reproductions, and gift items created by both artists.

Beads n’ More Celebrates 5 Years
Beads n' More is excited to announce Verdene is celebrating her 5th year Anniversary of Ownership this November on First Friday! 

For our Anniversary celebration we will be featuring an amazing Bead Meditation Artist Lea Harper originally from Utah! She will be decorating the front window with her beautiful pieces and hosting First Friday along with all the Gallery artists. We will be serving sparkling cider, coffee, cake and giving out raffle prizes every 15 minutes. Please come join in on our celebration and meet the lovely Lea Harper.

Silverton Elks Lodge Indoor Flea Market. 
First Saturday (Nov. 5) 300 High St 8 am - 3 pm Free admission and public is welcome. Spaces are still open for vendors, contact Don Roth at 503-981-4804 and leave message or contact the Lodge at 503-873-4567 and leave with Karen. Spaces are $15 per market for one table; extra table is $5.
