I received the following e-mail this morning from the Lehigh Valley Animal Response Team:
If anyone knows anyone who might be able to help – there is an extremely thin standard bred mare who is only 10 years old in a corral at the Middleburg Auction Barn (Owner is Bill at 570-837-2222) that has been abandoned. I spoke with Bill last night as I was concerned she was not being fed or watered properly. He informed me she had been abandoned and he is feeding and watering her during the night when she is brought into a stall. He then puts her out during the day for fresh air. He explained there is a scale for the designation of cruelty regarding body condition and she is just a step above it. She stands with her head hanging and looks very depressed. He said he cannot continue to feed her and if she is not gone by Friday morning he will euthanize her himself. He said he hates to do it but has to. He would be delighted if someone would just take her and rehabilitate her, and they could have her for free. If the person did not want to keep her they could make her healthy and sell her to a good home. She is a Standard Bred and is harness trained. It is unknown if she has ever been ridden as a saddle horse.
I have contacted everyone I can think of with no interest. Far Point is full as they have 27 horses, most of which are very old and are there for good. Please contact Bill if you can help this horse. Thanks Ginny Zeiber

Can anyone help this horse?
UPDATE: Just received word that this horse has been adopted. Thank you to all for your help. It is greatly appreciated. It's great to know that when assistance is needed, I can count on my friends and readers here on Active Rain. Thank you again, all, for helping.
