Does Toronto really have haunted houses? Some real estate agents believe that haunted houses are just one part of stigmatized real estate - murders, suicides, adjacencies to cemetaries, stories of unexplained happenings...But what do you know, these scary parts of Toronto are many of the prime real estate neighborhoods Downtown.

As revealed by CBC radio and Toronto Ghosts and Hauntings Society, the scariest parts of Toronto are as follows:

  • Basement of St Lawrence Market
  • Sherbourne and Adelaide
  • Old City Hall, Osgoode Hall
  • Queens Park
  • These private homes: http://www.torontoghosts.org/cityoftoronto.htm

Anne,

There are a couple of places in Toronto that i am quite surprised are not on your list, the first is often referred to as the most haunted place in Toronto which is Mackenzie House which of course is the former home of William Lyon Mackenzie the first mayor of Toronto this is where he lived and died, and the second is the old court house which is now a bar and nightclub/lounge the basement still has the old cells and out back where they now have the patio is where the old gallows were and they were hanging people into the 20th century at that location...

Thanks for the links! I love reading about haunted houses and would love to live in one! As long as the ghosts are friendly, that is!

Wow,  it looks like there are haunted houses all over.  My clients visited a purported haunted house, but they decided to take a pass.

If you dare the people who don't believe in ghosts to go into a haunted house alone after dark, I bet they won't do it.

Homes with ghosts aren't necessarily stigmatized - there are many people who would love to own a home with friendly ghosts.
