Answer: Cast a More Targeted Net!
Elongated Answer: Related Bible Verse: Jesus said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. (John 21:6)
I think this section of the gospel of John translates perfectly into our modern day real estate market. If you and I can stop and humble our hearts to hear what the Spirit says to us, we can find abundance inside of this so called "downer" market.
Dawn was breaking and the disciples were returning in their boat after an unsuccessful night of fishing. Fishing was their business they were Pros at their business but yet they had a "downer' night. They heard a voice from the shore ask, "Hey guys, you haven't caught any fish to eat, have you?" The original language assumes a negative answer. At this point, they didn't know who posed the question, but he asked it as if He already knew the answer. The voice today might ask, "Hey guys, you haven't closed any escrows lately, have you?"
After the disciples indicated that they had caught nothing, Jesus instructed them to cast their net to the right side of the boat, and they would find (something). Two main points to highlight here is first, the supernatural knowledge with which Jesus directs His disciples. He knows the exact location of the fish and in your case; He knows the exact location of your qualified real estate customers (target market). Wow! The omniscience of God is so vast and wonderful! And...He wants to bless you!
Several years ago, my wife and I visited the Philippines, I had the privilege to meet a wise, Spirit-filled Christian missionary in Manila who lived in Mindanao with his family and he was there to teach the locals how to better irrigate their crops in sporadic rainfall using new (to them) high-tech irrigation techniques. The missionary stated further that when he helped one village, their crops grew bigger and lusher and that village yielded a greater harvest than any they had ever known. The neighboring village noticed the abundant crops of their neighbors and came over and asked, "Who is your God?" At first, I thought it was a funny question. My so-called rational mind would ask the blessed villagers, "What technique did you use?" Not "Who is your God?" But the more I think on it, the first question is the right question! Who is your God?!
Only the true God gives you power to get wealth AND enjoy it (Deut. 8:18; Eccl. 5:19, 20). God will give you the technique, the target market and the bounty! His Giving brings Him the glory He deserves! My wife just got her RE agent's license and has closed three sales escrows. Our family and close friends remark, "I thought that this was a slow market at least that is what the media is saying." Her remark is "It is, but I ask God for those miracle buyers and He gives them to me." Wow! I want some of that too Lord, thank You!
Alright you have the first point. I'll assume you have had your dialog with God now I'll form the second point as a question, "What is your response to God's direction?" Is your response to God's leading, "Yes, I will obey." Or "No thanks, I'll take care of this myself."
The above scripture screams at us of the fact that God wants to bless you, the abundance of God's blessing can be yours AND the disciples' obedience is VERY important. Jesus' direction along with your obedience goes hand in hand; one doesn't work without the other!
Jesus directed the disciples' to throw the net on the right side and they were not able to haul it in because of the size of the catch of fish. In verse 11 we are told the exact number of the fish in the net, one hundred fifty-three. Note: the Bible is very specific.
Peter recognized that it was the Lord and he couldn't jump in to swim to the Lord fast enough. The others came to the shore with the boat. It appears that the weight of the net loaded with fish was so great that they could not lift it into the boat (or perhaps they feared the net would tear if they lifted it out of the water), for they came towing the net loaded with fish!
Friends, thanks for reading and I hope this article encourages you in your understanding of the truth that in this "downer" market there are abundant blessings to be received and it results from obedience to Jesus!
