Writing an offer this week, I called the listing agent to ask a few questions about the property, etc., so that a complete package could be sent.  The *sigh* feeling began when I was met with, "To reach agent assistant, press 1".

I was routed so many different ways on this call system that I finally called the main office and asked to be connected to a real live person on this agent's team!  Once I was connected to a person, she knew nothing about the property, did not know how to reach the agent and said she'd call me back when she had the information needed.

Two days later I get an email from agent assistant.  By the time she got the message - it had been through some major translation and you guessed it, she didn't answer half of the two questions I had!

Moral of this situation - please, don't outsource conversation.  In many situations, there is one source for good communication - you! Make every effort to directly talk with people and if you can't, make sure the person who is talking for you knows what they are talking about!

You make a good point and in today's market place, not being available or not knowing your game puts you on the bench....That run a round you described is a turn off

Totally agree.  Be available and know the property.  If you can't answer my questions, get the information and get back to me quickly.  Speed is important in transactions.  People want answers quickly.  They don't want to have wasted precious time on a property that doesn't respond to their needs.

AGREE AGREE AGREE!  How painful is it to not be able to provide your buyers with the answers to questions they have before they can soundly make a decision?

Good Morning, I just have to laugh about that. It reminds me of calling your mortgage company with a simple question. You just go into lala land sometimes. I couldn't agree more.

Agree with you so much.

You did not mentioned one point I would have made...if you are not going to properly service your clients, get out of the business.

This is why Realtors have such a bad rap in the eyes of the public.  What do you think a person at large wanting to buy this property would think?  That's why agents like this need to washed out of the business.

My office was starting to feel that way. The press one or two was really starting to bug me. Fortunately at the time we had a managing broker who actually listened and felt the same way...

Gabrielle,  I agree this has happened to me before I wonder to myself at one point am I going to be allowed the honor of talking with the agent???  I was trying to show a listing with a buyer in town for only two days.  Could I get the agent to call me with any help NO....but I could talk to his secretary assistant... that could do nothing .  I ended up not being able to show the house which had a huge potential as being the one.
