Did not get lost in the Corn Maze: Wore the wrong shoes!

After my partner read my Blog on “Halloween Fun in Hampton Roads” She had to try the corn maze.  This gigantic corn maze was about 5 acres, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at Bergy’s Breadbasket off of Mt. Pleasant Road. It seemed like it would be a fun thing to do with the family, so she began to look into the events happening at Bergy’s. She found that not only did they have a fun corn maze but also had a hay ride, a little bakery shop, pick your own pumpkin patch, a corn cannon that shot corn across a field towards a target.  If you hit a target you would get free ice cream!!!

 As the week progressed the planned trip was getting more and more exciting and everyone was anxious to go and see what all the good reviews had been ranting about. Finally it was time; they loaded into the car and began their journey to Bergy’s Breadbasket where the real adventure began. Right when they got there they all jumped out of the car and immediately started to look for where they would buy their tickets. Passing by the cows, chickens, and other farm animals they soon ran into the register where they bought 6 tickets. The lady handed them an aerial photograph of the corn maze and a ticket for 1 free launch at the corn cannon.

The lady directed them to the entrance of the corn maze where there was a sign that intrigued them. They had to find a total of 7 stamps throughout the maze in order to complete the maze successfully and move on to the next part of the farm. They paired off into teams of two, they decide to make it a family challenge to see who would be able to gather the stamps the quickest and the WINNERS would get FREE ice cream courtesy of the LOSERS. So they were off into the corn maze! They raced through the windy turns and sudden dead ends to find the stamps (they sure didn’t make it easy either) 3 stamps in my partner hear we are done from one set of kids. REALLY?>>>> few minutes later the other two said DONE.  My partner & husband were having a hard time with the maze.  First, reason she said was because she is not as young as she used to be and second, she did not wear the right shoes!   She wore cute heels to a corn maze? What was she thinking?  It said 5 acres!!  Needless to say she was just glad that someone had won and the family had fun and she could finally get out of there because she was getting blisters & her feet were killing her. But NO... her husband wanted all the stamps. (He was not going to let the kids show them up) They finally finished the maze with all 7 stamps. The kids enjoyed a great hay ride while they waited for the parents to finish,  so they could use their tickets to shot the corn cannon (which was actually a lot more fun than expected.) Everyone took a shot at the targets but unfortunately none of them hit the targets. Luckily everyone still got ice cream form the LOSERS. Everyone said it was some of the best ice cream they have ever had in a long time.

She said it was nice and relaxing to be able to sit down and be able to enjoy the nice day outside while enjoying the ambient sounds and smells of the farm that took their minds away from the rustle and bustle of the busy days in the city.
