Killing three birds with one stone!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Tutas Towne Realty, Inc and Garden Views Realty, LLC BK607690

Hi folks. Today I have a dilemma. As you may know, I have been at the top of the "Top Blogs" section of ActiveRain for quite a while. I'm not sure how long it's been but I think it's at least 2 months. Now some may say, "What difference does it make?" Well, to me, I like it. It means folks are reading my Blog and for whatever reason they find it to be interesting. Now for a Blogger this is a good thing. So, I like it. Also, from the consumer's perspective, it gives me more exposure, I think. My time "at the top" is limited though as Carole Cohen is closing in fast. Now, folks if you haven't been reading Carole's Blog, you need to. It is very, very good.

Anyway, here's my dilemma. I want to get my listings on ActiveRain. I have about 20 of them, and if I were to post them, I assume my rankings and comments would go down and I would lose my positioning on the "Top Blogs" section. Now folks, this would not be the end of my world, BUT if I can figure out how to achieve this and still keep my ranking, it just seems to me, that that would be the way to go. Everyone has different objectives for Blogging on ActiveRain. I have three objectives, that I try to accomplish every time I write a post.

First, I write to try and share my Real Estate experiences and techniques to hopefully help another Realtor in their business. A fellow Realtor reading my posts can learn how to take 45 day listings, how to Range Price a property, how to disarm people, how to improve their listing presentation and much, much more. This is actually my number one objective.

Secondly, I write so the consumer can get a real idea of how I conduct my business. By reading my posts, they can see that I am honest, knowledgeable about my market, creative, ethical and that I have a sense of humor. They can also see that I care about them and their situation and that I will do whatever it takes to get the job done. Hopefully by reading they will want to do business with me.

Thirdly, I write because I like it. Writing helps me to really think about what I do and why I do it. It helps me to express my feelings and open up about things I would not have thought about sharing before ActiveRain.

My first reason is sharing. My second reason is marketing. My third reason is selfish. Anyway, if people aren't reading my Blog, then none of these objectives would be achieved. Being on the dashboard helps in reaching readership.

So, after 10 seconds of heavy thinking, here is my solution: If you are interested in purchasing or selling a property in Poinciana, Fl, then please give Broker Bryant a call. Also, you can click below to view Broker Bryant's current inventory.

HOMES FOR SALE IN POINCIANA, FL.

So how did I do? Did I kill three birds with one stone? Sorry, folks I can't kill two, that would require jumping in a box.

Disclaimer: I would never kill a bird! I love birds:)

BB - I don't believe that consumer posts count against you. They want to encourage us to post consumer content too, but it doesn't get nearly as many comments so they don't include them in the formula (I believe)

Bryant I love how you think, way outside the box. I just stopped by to read your latest stuff. I guess you could say I'm learning by watching the more experienced bloggers. Great post as usual BB. Later...

Bryant, nice way to slip in the listings.  Thanks for the sharing, if you didn't market we couldn't take you serious.

Can you have a separate blog on a separate blog platform for you listings and link to it from your Active Rain Blog?  My clients flip back and forth to my writings on RainCityGuide and then my blog and my family blog and my Kirkland blog.  Haven't written much on the last two for awhile, but hope to revise that format starting Jan 1.  Multiple blogs for mulitple puposes on different platforms?  Link them together?  Just a thought.  I don't know much about active rain and points and stuff...but that's my suggestion, Bryant.

Hi Bryant

Your blogs have met and exceeded your goals. You have always been a reliable source of information and your willingness to share is wonderfully refreshing. You are good at it. When I awoke this morning and checked the dashboard I was "Stunned" to see you had the Number 2 position. But then I read on...and your encouragement to Carole was what makes you King!

Wow thanks for all the great comments.

Christopher, you are welcome. I love sharing. I hope some of my ideas have helped you in your business.

Joanne, I have an image? I've never had one of those before. Thanks.

Karen, How do I do it? I make all this stuff up:) I have everyone fooled into thinking I'm a Real Estate Broker. I'm really that fat naked guy in TLWs post from a a while back.

Jeff, that was a very good series you wrote and definitely worthy of being in print with the papers. I really don't worry about the dashboard at all, I wrote this post tongue in cheek.

Margaret, I knew you would like that line. You and I are very much alike and I'm sure you too make decisions very very quickly.

Angus, Moo are probably right. I actually have a link to all my listings in every post I write and on my profile and on my blog. I don't really need or want to put them here individually. I might have a Buyer call me then what would I do?:)

Thanks Marti. I hate the box. I'm claustophobic:)

Randy, take me serious? Why would anyone do that:)

Ardell, I don't think we have met but I have read about you. Welcome to my blog. I do have a brand new blogsite coming on line shortly that will incorporate my listings. I'm looking forward to it.

Jay, awesome graphic! Looks like TLW has been playing with her guns again.

Allison, Thanks. I consider Carole a friend of mine and I love her blog. She earned it and deserves it.

TLW. It does look like dinner! Remember only rate me if it is rate worthy. No wife scamming.

Bryant,

Both you and Carole bring so much to the table here at AR.  Reading your blogs helps me to better understand the struggles and tasks Realtors have to deal with daily.  You are tops in my book!

'Darlin'...Like it or not I will give you a fiver every time you post. Why? You're my husband that's why. :) What kind of a wife would I be if I did not rate your posts and give them a fiver? Not a very supportive one in my book. :) And yes that does look like dinner. BAM. Oh! Sorry! That was a Hog! Want barbecue? TLW...ROAR!

Actually Bryant, if you post your listings and only put them in the Consumer catagory they won't effect your ranking on the Blog Dashboard.

your posts are great! I seem to fall behind on commenting since TLW is taking all the good parking spots. Seriously though, your sharing and experience make your blog great to read. I am fizzling for good RE topics, so they vary. Your consistency is always present, and that is something I admire. Esp since mine fluctuates.. for now.

How can you not be at the top... dont say your going to be #2!! oh no!! haha Just having some fun.

I need to get over to Carole's more often and comment more. I have been reading, but I tend to lurk in the background a little too often. enough about me.. you da man!!  Thanks for invite to AR, BB. I think you had to mention is several times before I made it. Someday I will do my profile.. haha.. I'd rather be an enigma for now..  ooohhhhhhh!

now after rereading this comment, there are too many 'I's in it. sorry.. let me make up for it..
Borker Bryant is the man. Broker Bryants blog rocks. Broker Bryant teaches us new stuff all the time. BB, BB, BB, BB, BB and throw a TLW in there also!!

PS. these are my favorite 3 little birds.. Bob wrote it when the birds would come eat the little seeds he dropped while he was uhhmm.. working in the garden.

PSS. did you know that now I'm an internet beggar?

Brian, you have become a fixture in that spot.  Getting to the top spot is a lot of hard work, because you have to take the time to write Posts that people want to read.  But staying on top for two months, man that is awesome.  It will be a long time before someone does that again.

You have a problem that most people would not mind having.  My st. Paul re blog is in the top 30 nation wide but my active rain blog is almost unread.  St. Paul re is for consumers, and it generates leads.  Active rain is for fun and networking.  I get to meet people like you.  I have never been on any of the dashboards and my posts have low ratings.  Yet I stay because of the people that I meet.
