Amazing to be able to hold this little guy without spooking him, and take these great photos with the other hand. How did you do this? Where did you find this critter?
Gary, That is a cool photo! How did you get him in your hand?
Linda, I though that he was pretty cute, so I had to try and get some photos. I actually held him in one hand and took photos with the other.
Doug, I think that He didn't want to jump because he was very young. I don't think I could have held an adult long enough to get the photos. I got him because he was in a nest in the engine compartment of my mom's Jeep. I actually caught a couple of them and then turned them lose.
Tony & Darcy, Thank you. I actually caught him using both hands as he moved across the top of the engine in the Jeep.
That is one small animal. But definitely a keeper for pics.
Gary I loved the focused eyes, how cute and concentrating, hope she is back in nature now:)
Dear Gary -
Now that animal is small enough to be so cute! Nonetheless, you had heavy gloves on to be sure its little teeth couldn't get you!
Have a happy day -
Lynn
Mark & Tim, Thank you. It was really tiny.
Endre, Thank you. And I let the little one go immediately after taking these photos.
Lynn, Even though he was tiny, I figured that his teeth were big enough to do some painful damage. Hope you have a happy day too. Thanks for stopping by.
What great pictures these are! I can't believe you were able to even pick him up!!
Wow...very cool can't believe you were able to hold him that close.
Debra, Thank you --- I really appreciate the feature. Have a great weekend.
Wendy, Thank you. I was surprised too,but it was really neat.
Hi Gary,
Those are some cute up close photos. Thanks for sharing and as everyone else has said, glad you had gloves on. Soooooooooooooo Cute!
Great photos
Have a wonderful weekend
your friend in Charlottesville
Kristin, Thank you. I had fun taking these photos. I've taken lots of chipmunk photos but these are my favorites.
Charles, Thank you. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend too -- and enjoy your Halloween.
How cute! As I was admiring how you were able to get it to stay in your hand, I was wondering how it even got in your hand in the first place. I'm glad you explained that part in your comments. I definitely wouldn't want chipmunks in my Jeep.
Sondra, Thank you. I wasn't too surprised that I could catch him there on top of the engine but I was a little surprised that he didn't try to jump off. I think an adult would have been gone long before I could have snapped a picture. Have a wonderful day.
Okay I see Chip but where's Dale? And I gotta know. Did you just have to walk up to him and pick him up or did you coax him onto the glove with some sort of food ? Used to have a prairie dog for a pet and they are wicked good biters! The glove was a smart move anything with teeth should be cautioned around. lol ( J )
I bet that prairie dog could bite -- I didn't want to take any chances with Chip. Dale ran off before I could get a photo with both of them. LOL
At some scenic areas there are some that are so tame they would probably let you hold them but these weren't very tame. The only way I got him was by grabbing quickly.
Oh my, what great pictures and an adorable "Chipper". I love watching them running to and fro and jumping with the squirrels.
Sue of Robin and Sue
Sue, Thank you. It really is fun to watch them as they run about.
