I'm an Internet marketer... that's how I advertise and sell homes.  I still do a bit of traditional advertising, but since 80% of the buyers are looking on-line, I spend well over 80% of my time and resources advertising my listings on the Internet.

Suddenly, I have been getting great press coverage, and both reporters found me on the Internet.

The first newscast focused more on the general market, and the second interview just released really focuses on some of the ways that tech-savvy real estate agents market homes.  The local paper published an article, Valley Realtor says Internet is key to home sales, where I've had a chance to share just a little about my high-tech marketing strategies.

Sellers really need to understand that buyers are on-line, and that homes must be actively marketed on the Internet in today's market.

Hello Dru,

Good job on recognising the trend toward Internet marketing for homes and buyers. I love to see the ideas others have come up with, I believe the Internet is the great equalizer and soon those with presence and exposure will have the competitive edge.

I also see that since everyone is doing this, that I get a great responce from small classified ads again....

Mike - What was interesting to me was that when I was first contacted for the second interview, I didn't have time to meet the reporter for her deadline.  I searched for a colleague that I could refer the interview to, and was not able to find anyone in our market that utilizes the Internet to the level that I do.  Fortunately, the reporter was able to move her deadline out, so we met a couple days later. 

Carole - The press has been helping in many subtle and not-so-subtle ways.  It's been fascinating to watch the process unfold.  I got another call from the first reporter today, but was not able to comfortably answer the questions that she was asking, so referred her to my broker.  He's contacted by the press regularly and has been coaching me a bit, so I hope I helped her get her story.
