If you work in the real estate business and have survived the market for the last three years, congratulations!  You are part of the true professionals!  Sometimes being in this business can cause a little bit of stress.  Okay, yes, I am joking.  Sometimes it can cause a great deal of stress.  However, as an independent contractor commission only salesperson, it may not always be easy to break away.  But we all need to take that break.  We need the time to refocus on something new.  This is the best way to recharge our energy for what we do.

For me, the best way to take that mental break is to spend some time in the kitchen.  I have always loved to cook and bake.  Having the time to get creative is thoroughly enjoyable.  The greater the number of pots, pans, bowls etc in the sink, the happier I am!  While others find having to cook as a chore, for me it brings back great memories of time spent with my Grandmother.

So today, I decided to expand my repertoire of jams and jellies.  I decided to tackle a lemon marmalade.  I have made orange marmalade in the past, but never any other citrus fruit.  So, I started the preparation.  I found beautiful bright yellow lemons.  As soon as I saw them I had made my decision.

Now, if you have never made jam or jelly, let me tell you that this is not a project that allows for multi-tasking.  That is one reason why I enjoy this so much.  It gives me time to refocus only on one task.   The last thing you want to do is leave a pot of sugar cooking at a high temperature unattended.  That is a recipe for disaster.

This was a great way to spend the afternoon.  Below is a picture of the lemon marmalade.

I think it is time for toast!

So, what do you to do relax?

Everyone needs a little R&R at times, my wife and I spent the afternoon making chili and listening to music.

David, that is another good option!

Whatever works.  There is something to be said for actually finishing something with tangible results.

Wayne, it is unbelievably delicious!  You would win that bet.
