Unsatisfactory.....

We are perfectly well aware that the economy is bad.  We also understand stretching things to make ends meet.  We do not understand cheating or scrimping on your product or service to the point where it is no longer recognizable.
We frequently stop at a national sandwich franchise for quick and semi nutritious meals on the run.  Today's foot-long tuna sandwich had to be the extreme of skimpy!  There was so little tuna that it was hidden under the cheese.  Instead of the usual 4 ice cream scoop serving, this was served up with a lemon baller size scoops.  The usual ample veggies were about a third of the usual.

We were not the only ones who noticed the stingy servings.  A customer behind us was heard to ask for a little more mayo.  Really!  Should we have to ask for things that have been part of the meal for years?

This place was in a shopping center in the middle of an affluent part of town.  They also did not give us napkins (normally you get 2 when you order a "foot long" sandwich.)  When things get tight, isn't it really a good idea to concentrate on giving exemplary service and making our product or service that much more attractive?    If this trend continues, it will not surprise us to see a for lease sign on this space soon...  we have been conditioned over the years to expect a fair serving of what was ordered and paid for!

Jeanne & Ralph, In tough times the first thing one does is to cut back on the quality of the goods and services which is a big mistake. And unfortunately it is down hill from there. Thanks for sharing.

What a shame.  People do notice, especially when they're paying with their hard-earned dollars.  This is not good business at all.

I think we are talking about the same company that cut down on tomatoes during the shortage. Now that the shortrage is over they are still skimping on them and I have cut back on going in.

I imagine this is a restraurant that is failing and they are trying to save every penny they can in hopes of holding on until things turn around.  There are too many small businesses in this position. Who knows how many will be still standing by next year,

Yes, this type of reduction is quite noticeable.  And no napkins - many fast food restaurants are starting to cut back.  It drives me crazy to have to ask for a napkin.
