Are you thinking of renting a condo or home, this winter on Singer Island, Florida?
Here are some things to consider.
1. First decide if you want to rent a condominium or single family home. Most condos on Singer Island have a 3 month minimum.
2. Have a recent credit check available with the offer to rent. If your credit is not so good, it is helpful to have a few written references available to show the owner.
3. Be prepared to have a minimum of 1st, last and security deposit up front. This shows the owner you are a serious tenant. Some owners may require the full rent upfront if it is a shorter term rental, (usually 3 months).
4. Any rentals 6 months or less will be subject to 11% bed tax.
5. Some owners may require an exit cleaning fee. This also will be paid upfront. If they don’t require the fee, be prepared too have the home professionally cleaned when you leave.
6. Each owner handles the tenants use of electric differently. Generally, owners will keep the electric bill in their name and you will pay for your use of the electric.
5. Do you have a pet? You may want to consider leaving your pet at home. There are very few places that allow pets and the ones that do will probably require a pet deposit.
7. If you’re considering a condo, you will need to apply with the condo association for approval. Application fees average $100 per person or married couple. Also, some condos may have a common area deposit. The amount of deposit can vary from building to building.
When getting ready to find your seasonal rental, work with a local Realtor that can help you find that perfect winter rental.
