Snowtober

What a great treat to have a sticky snow storm before Halloween. Our backyard became a winter playground for the kids to build a fort, roll in the snow, and have a snowball fight. A snow storm gives us permission to become a kid again and just play (when it hits on a weekend of course).

This storm also reminded me of how fragile our energy distribution system is in this country with hundreds without power from this storm. It reinforces the work that we have to do to rebuild this country and our infrastructure. It reminds us that helping our neighbors is more important that arguing over paying taxes or not. This early snowstorm gives us a glimpse into how we need to prepare for this winter and pushes us to get our own house in order. Today I will get our storm windows installed and look for other easy fixes to cut out energy use this winter. Hopefully our country leaders will do the same and start investing in our country instead of their corporate partners.

Good morning, Charles. I heard that some areas op north got hammered with the "S" word. Thankfully, we just got the "F" word (frost)...

I predict a long winter for you!  It looks beautiful in a picture, but I prefer the sunshine of the south.

Wallace, We still have a little on the ground - winter has come too early for me.

Michael - Hope you guys can keep that trend. When I was in Knoxville for Grad school I saw the driving skills in snow of Tennessee students. You are safer with just frost.

Kathy, I prefer sunshine as well, but the mountains keep me here.
