Speechless Sunday - THIS is what happens when it snows in October

With the leaves still on the trees, the branches can't hold the weight of the snow.

More cleanup in Southeastern PA.  Enough already!

Hi Faith,

Sorry you have one too.  It is such a bummer.  I love our pear tree but now it probably will have to get cut down.

Wow Lisa - You just gave me an epiphany that I hadn't considered before. . .So that's why leaves lose their leaves in autumn!  Nature has a way of taking care of its own:-)

I'm a agent in N.W. Ohio, yesterday at my buyers Defiance, Ohio Home Inspection your area came up in our conversation, so sorry about your trees! I guess I never thought about snow mixed with tress before they drop there leaves? We are so acustom to snow on our bare tree branches in our neck of the woods... I hope you don't suffer to much damage!

Lisa, That is the dangers of early season snow storms!  I hope that the tree is able to recover!

Lisa,

I imagined that would be a big problem this early in the season with all the leaves still on the trees.  They're not built for the weight of snow.  That's why God had them fall off first when he designed them!:)

What a shame that your pear tree collapsed under the weight of the snow.   I'm glad that it didn't fall on your house.

Try to stay warm.

Lisa, it is really bad with wet, heavy snow damaging our large mature trees!   So sad to see this!   We had this last week too!

Thanks everyone!  I am sad to lose the mature trees; we have lost so many in the last year.  Scott just sees firewood.  :)  Mother Nature has been cruel.  But I am grateful that is the worst of our problems.  Our homes are intact and we will replant!

Happy Halloween!

Oh man Lisa! Better the tree than the house even though it still hurts to see a mature pear tree down. Good luck with the rest of the season and the remaining trees!

Larry and Jacque,

I agree that the damage was minimal in the grand scheme of things, but I am sad to lose that pear tree.  It was very big, beautiful and right smack in the center of our front yard.  Now we will have to contend with cutting it down, grinding out the stump and restoring the yard.  Ugh!
