For most of this month I have pondered what miracles have taken place in my life, particularly during this past year, for the Fall Season of Miracles challenge.
During the past year, I have experienced illnesses and survival of friends and family, births to friends and family, and a number of life-changing experiences for myself. But, which of these are truly miracles that can be shared as positive experiences to encourage or motivate others?
I'm sure that we can all agree that a life-threatening illness and the survival of that illness would most definitely be considered a miracle. And educating others about that illness/disease would be motivating and encouraging.
There is no doubt that a birth is a miracle. A birth to someone that had a life-threatening disease during that pregnancy and survived is doubly a miracle, as is what happened to my daughter-in-law.
Being able to share my hopes, my dreams, and my fears with friends, new and old, around the globe is truly an amazing miracle. Just the fact that technology has advanced so far to allow us to meet new people from around the world is a miracle in and of itself.
Yet, as I sit here thinking about what to write for the Fall Season of Miracles challenge, my thoughts keep turning to nature. The simple, yet complex, changing of the seasons from summer to fall. Seeing the stars above me at night, or being amazed by the northern lights, which made it's way down south this year. Watching the birds and critters prepare for the oncoming dormant season, or stop to take a rest.
Harvesting the last fruits from the garden, a miracle of growth and sustenance. The leaves changing colors, from a beautiful deep green to golden yellows and bright oranges and deep reds, before they turn brown and fall to the ground. Each and every one of these are miracles in my eyes.
I am constantly awed by what nature presents to me. I am reminded that miracles are around me every minute of every day. It is up to us to recognize them as miracles.
Have you seen that miracle?
