Paying It Forward: Active Rain Is ALL About Paying It Forward

This is a great post about the site we all share.  I didn't want anyone to miss this and so a re-blog was in order.  It is a wonderful post for newcomers and long time Rainers alike.

Paying It Forward:  Active Rain Is ALL About Paying It ForwardCommunity

We don't think anyone who logs into Active Rain the first time and intuitively knows what to do.  Maybe if they took an Active Rain University Class or were lucky enough to have someone sponsor them and take them under their wing, then they got a good start.

But most of you were probably like us.  We joined, and didn't really know a thing we didn't learn by watching and asking.  To us, Active Rain epitomizes the Pay It Forward culture.  We've NEVER had someone not answer a question on how to do something.  Whether it's on how to make our blogs more aesthetically appealing, or on how to better build our business, someone (or more often a BUNCH of someones) will answer the question.

And sometimes you don't even have to ask, the advice comes in via an email or phone call from one of our Active Rain Friends!  And for that we're very appreciative.

And if one of our own is in trouble, we've watched the community step up to the plate time and again.  It's more than a little impressive how responsive the Active Rain community is to a member in need.

So every week we try to share what we've learned.  Now sometimes that sharing is via an advice or tutorial post of some sort (where to get Localism post ideas, how to improve your posts, etc.).  Do you know pictures over 1MB in size won't load?

Lately we've been more likely to send someone a side email with some nugget of info we've picked up.  It may be as simple as a heads up, there's a typo in your title (spell check doesn't check there), or how to add white space around photos.  We scan a LOT of posts on a daily basis, and if we can see someone that can use some help, we're going to try.

We've tried to embrace the idea that we are ALL Ambassadors for Active Rain if we choose to be, with or without that orange badge on our photos.  Now this Monday we did get that orange Ambassador badge, and we're appreciative to the AR Staff for that honor! :)

A quote from our friend in North Carolina:
"I do not share my stories of paying it forward for recognition.  I share them so that others might be inspired to do what they can, when they can, where they can.  No more, no less."  Tish Lloyd, North Carolina REALTOR®

I agree,  its totally about paying it forward since so many of my friends and colleagues in active rain have done so much for me... I would never think otherwise.
