I know this post is featured but I felt very strongly to re-blog this post and request prayers for all those without heat in the 30 degree weather- and that is inside temputures. Please pray for those who are old and afflicted, the homeless and the mentally ill who are without power and heat. Please check on your neighbors if you live in this area.

A Nor’easter Hits Morris County, NJ With Epic Proportions

I’m writing this post off our generator because we, along with 2.3 million homes are without power from the deadly Nor’easter that chugged up the Eastern seaboard, taking down trees, power lines and large branches, blocking streets, driveways and bridges.

Some closeups from my yard - this marks the end of gardening in my area, but is beautiful...

It was a sight to behold...

Right now it is 37 degrees inside our home. Our generator is a small one, but I was able to hook up my computer to get this post out – talk about my commitment to posting in the Rain – yeah, I’m addicted! It's going to be a big clean up and no one knows when the power will be restored. Right now it doesn't look good...

What started out as an enchanting sight, a light coating of snow dusting the colorful and brilliant fall foliage, became a ferocious snow storm taking down power lines, trees, telephone poles with a thunderous roar.

It’s been reported by the Weather Channel that we were hit with historic snowfalls of up to 10 inches or more in the Northeast.  Moreover, frigid temperatures and high gusts of winds have left us all freezing with virtually no place to go.

Only 3 short days ago the temperatures were in the 70’s and now we watched a seemingly light snow turn into blizzard conditions bringing chaos and destruction everywhere we turned.

The combination of wet, heavy snowfall on leaf laden trees brought disastrous results. We are now in a state of emergency. From what I could see, almost no streets or homes escaped this storm’s wrath, including my own.

These were the some of the first photos I captured, before the ominous crackling of tree limbs permeated the air as giant tree limbs fell to the ground making it too dangerous to be outdoors.

Pulling into my driveway was like entering the Twilight Zone...

To all those who have been affected by this storm, my thoughts  and prayers are with you! I will try and comment back, but until we have power I can't keep my computer on, but will check in later.

Thank you Katrina for the reblog - the destruction is unbelievable, like nothing I've ever seen before. Like you said, we should all be checking on our neighborhoods and the elderly. With no power and temperatures in the mid 30s, it's dangerous situation. From what I understand we might not have power until November 2nd - it's going to be a long couple of days!

Kristine- Stay safe and stay warm, as warm as you can. While the photos are so amazingly stunning and beautiful the irony is that all is not beautiful right now for you all stuck in the cold without power. At least here, we get stuck without AC during and after storms and hurricanes but we have a beach we can go to cool off and we have a pool to swim in to get cooled off. But being cold, nothing you can really do. Katerina

Tammy- Yes, we need to pray for the community. Thank you.
