Halloween Safety Tips- Safety First, Then the Candy!
Please make sure your Halloween is full of Treats and not on Tricks! I love this holiday because it’s the one holiday with no pressure to buy gifts for everyone and no family pressures and traditions to follow. All you have to do is have fun!
But, please make sure your children are safe so the little goblins and ghosts will be back again next year. Here are a few tips:
1. Make sure you and your children can be seen! Kids love the glow sticks and necklaces, so you won’t have any trouble getting them to wear them. You can also put reflective tape on their costumes and bags. And carry a flashlight!
2. Make sure your costumes are flame retardant. In addition, have your little ghosts walk around in them to check for “tripping” hazards. And if they are wearing a mask, make sure the holes are large enough for them to see where they’re going!
3. The excitement of free candy can cause little (and big) ones to forget to look both ways when crossing the street, so please make sure there’s an adult with the little goblins and ghosts at all times.
4. And, it is unfortunate, but make sure all candy is inspected before it is eaten. Know where your children are going and if you see something questionable remove it!
Parents- if you are driving in the neighborhoods, please drive very slowly and watch out for our little Treaters. A sugar high and the excitement of the night can cause them to forget about all of the safety tips they’ve learned in school.
Happy Halloween!
