On Monday my youngest son, Aidan, came home from school and said "I want to learn how to ride a bike." For years my husband and I have been trying to get him to ride a bike, but he's never had an interest. Last summer my husband and older son started mountain biking and I thought for sure Aidan would want to learn how to ride a bike, NOPE.
So I was very excited that he FINALLY wanted to learn. I took his bike off the rack and asked if he wanted help, which he didn't so I stood back. However instead of focusing on riding his bike he kept looking at me. I realized I must have been making him nervous, so I went in the house and spied on him from the window. Within a matter of minutes Aidan was riding his bike up and down the sidewalk.
Now all he wants to do is ride his bike rain or shine, which this picture happens to be of him riding in the rain. I guess he has to make up for lost time.
Michelle, that is a great story!! To be riding in the rain means he is relishing this new pasttime! Glad Aidan's making up for lost time and can now join Dad and brother in the fun !! :)
Michelle - I remember my first bike ride, because it hurt when I went down a hill and couldn't stop. That concrete wall was tough.
Michelle, That is a great story! It just goes to show you that you have to want to do something in order to really do it well, and also once you find something that you like, don't let a little thing like the rain get in the way! Great picture!
I remember teaching my daughter how to ride a bike. Now we are teaching her to drive. We are still having the same steering issues she had when she was learning to ride her bike.
Michelle, he's got the "going" part down pat. Make sure that he knows about stopping too. My guys had a problem with that!
When my youngest was 5, I was frustrated because he had no interest in riding a bike. So I forced him to go outside with his dad and get on that two wheeler. He got going right away, went up and down the street for five minutes, and then said, "Can I go inside now?" And that was the end of that. Not much riding since then. I'm glad that your son has taken a liking to it. Such great exercise and so much fun!
Michelle .....Once you start something you really like it's hard to slow down......good for Aidan!
Happy Halloween!
Be Safe and have fun!
Hi Michelle - that is great, and what great photos. My next big milestone is when my youngest one starts driving, and I must say that is kind of scary to me!!!
Ha. Thats cute. Thats awesome that he did it on his own too. Very coordinated.
Sonja - I am too and he can't wait to go mountain biking
Larry - You and me both, I lived on a huge hill.
Tony - I couldn't agree with you more.
Debbie - LOL, my older one will be driving soon and I don't look forward to that lesson.
Kevin - So far so good with the breaking
Melissa - I'm glad to know Aidan's not the only one, I thought it was mandatory that every child had to learn how to ride a bike....guess not.
Rob - Happy Halloween!
Sharon - That's VERY scary to me
John - It is although I was excited to help
LOL my daughter was like this too! I am so proud of your little Aiden! Now he can join Chase with the Wellington series!
Michelle
Good for him! The timing was right and he had to do it his way. Glad you had the wisdom to let it happen...he will remember that.
