Home buyers who think they can Represent themselves best!

HGTV was running a show recently showing a first time home buyer being so proud of themselves believing that they were saving money by not using a professional Realtor. Well, HGTV should have interceded and told this uninformed couple that the seller pays the commission, not the buyer.

They could have had the best representation and most likely saved money if they would have sought a Realtor's advice and agency.  

Instead, they went directly to  a "For Sale By Owner" who they admitted lead them to believe a lie....   and then they went to a builder who may or may not make more of a profit on this couple.  All without representation.

Didn't someone once say "Ignorance is bliss?"  

Well not if you are in the market today in real estate!  Where is your representation today?

Shame on you HGTV to promote that buyers save anything by going on their own.  They don't pay the Realtor...the seller does.  And if they think for a moment that they save by going direct to the seller/builder ...they are so wrong!!!

They save nothing...its the seller that is trying to save...and in the end its the buyer who pays more if they go directly to the seller or the builder without representation.

Good Realtors are good because they know the business & the market and if they are Really good they will refer you to the best in your area, and will not try to sell where they have no expertise.

That is another blog...but I dealt with that today at an open house and was quick to refer to someone who knew their gated community and they respected my honesty.
