The Year Halloween Was Cancelled in Connecticut

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential CT Realty
I don't ever remember Halloween being cancelled, but this year it will be in many parts of Connecticut. We had a major snow storm on October. 29, 2011 that left 800,000 people without power. It was more devastating than Hurricane Irene. The weight of the snow on leaves that hadn't yet fallen from the trees brought trees and limbs crashing to the ground, many ripping through power lines. So with good reason, Halloween will be cancelled. There are no lights on my street to illuminate walkways or houses that might want to participate. But even worse are the tree limbs still dangling from power lines and trees, waiting to fall on someone and do more damage. Don't even think twice about this: STAY HOME!

Aaaa, thats so disappointing for the kids but safety must come first. I also don't remember Halloween being cancelled and as a kid I so looked forward to it. Hopefully your area can reschedule a day for them.

Hi Peggy,

That absolutely stinks.  It has been an incredibly rough year for weather.  The winter was bad, then Irene and Lee were devastating.  Now, early snow.  Hopefully, the trick or treaters will get out later this week and you will soon have power, water, and heat.

Good morning Peggy. Sad story. I'm in New Jersey and had my share too with significant downed tree damage but I do have power so I'm grateful. Hang in and I hope your power is returned soon.

Wow what a huge bummer for all of those kids in CT. Maybe they could designate a day next week for kids to do some trick or treating! Thanks for sharing and I hope you can have a Happy Halloween!

Hope everything gets back to normal as quickly as possible. Earthquakes, hurricanes, record October snowstorm. What did you all do over there to upset Mother Nature like that?
