This past month was an exciting one in Costa Rica, with the majority of voters saying "Si" to the Central American Free Trade Agreement.
The effects of CAFTA on US investors will be seen very soon, but it is expected to draw increased investor interest in Costa Rica.
What is expected is for unusually high import taxes on items like electronics and vehicles to be drastically changed. Currently, if you want to bring a vehicle into Costa Rica, you would have to pay up to 70% of the appraised value of the vehicle in taxes alone!
On another note, but just as exciting, the Green season will be coming to a close soon, expecting weather suitable for travel and vacations just around the corner. NOW is a perfect time to make your travel arrangements to visit wonderful Costa Rica, and even take a look at some amazing investment properties.

According to White House press secretary Dana Perino, the agreement would "expand Costa Rica's access to the U.S. market, safeguard that access under international law, attract U.S. and other investment and link Costa Rica to some of the most dynamic economies of our hemisphere."
