A local attorney built it in his garage to honor the 100th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. Now we are celebrating the Satues 125th Anniversary and Attorney Stilp came forward and shared his story. It was made from plywood and Venetian blinds, to cut down on wind resistance, Stlip put it together himself and then recruited a handful of accomplices to sneak it onto
The statue stood for six years until a strong wind blew it off her perch. Instead of letting the statue "die" the Borough of Dauphin collected $25,000 to build a replica. This newer statue has stood proud and tall for 14 years.
