Those were the good old days with Perry Como, Pat Boone, Lawrence Welk and others. Life was a lot simpler then.

In the early '40's, Perry had a radio show that came on at 4:15PM. After school, a group of us would meet at our local ice cream parlor, to share our enjoyment of one of our favorite crooners.
Fast forward to the 90's. Perry lived in a waterfront home on the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter, Florida. One day, I drove my boat past his home, and he was driving golf balls into the water. When he was finished, I went over to the bulkhead, and had a great conversation. He sold this home, and moved into Palm Beach where he enjoyed being part of the community. He was always humble, and never forgot his early career as a barber.
There was only one Perry Como.
They sure were, Doug. Life really was a bowl of cherries.
RJ, I remember running circles around the house and jumping like a kangaroo every time I heard Hot Diggity Dog Diggity. I was seven. I wish that I could have met him or seen him on stage.
